New Experience #29 - Christmas @ Castle McCulloch

Jamestown, North Carolina has a castle!  And that castle holds events such as weddings, in addition to having an annual Christmas trail and Carnavale.  So, on Sunday night, December 13th, my roommate from college Mitzi and I ventured over to Castle McCulloch to take part in the Christmas trail.

We were both expecting to walk along a lighted trail outside.  There was a trail and we did walk along it.  However, most of this trail was either inside the castle or in covered areas - which is nice on cold, damp nights such as this one.  There were lots of little stations where there were stories and performances.  These included a Scotsman who recited ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, singing elves, Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, and some cloggers.  The majority of the evening was just fun Christmas-y stuff, but the final station included a nativity scene and a brief explanation of the real meaning of Christmas, as well as 2 members of a Gospel choir singing “Go Tell it On The Mountain.”  Bring on the Christmas spirit!!!

Only 1 more new experience to go…
