My Perpetual Wish List
As gift-giving occasions approach, one is often asked, “What’s on your wish list?” It just so happens that 2 rather large gift-giving occasions in my life happen to occur within one week of one another - Christmas and my Birthday. I am completely aware that Christmas is not all about presents, but since this post happens to be about one’s wish list I will be tackling that topic here. And your Birthday? Well, that should be all about celebrating you - friends, presents, fun times.
Where did the idea for a perpetual wish list begin? A few weeks ago, my staff team drew names and exchanged Christmas gifts with one another. Ron, our director, drew a name of the engaged-at-the-time couple (Jeff & April) and commented on how easy that made choosing a gift. He said, “They have this list of things they want. I just picked one to buy. Everyone should do that.” And the idea for a perpetual wish list was born!
Now, many websites only allow you to create a list or registry if you’re getting married or having a baby. I find this slightly discriminatory toward those of us who have not yet celebrated either of those, but that’s another story. However, Target lets you create a Wish List - like a registry in that people can buy right from the list, but you don’t have to have a specific reason for creating it. So, I now have a Perpetual Wish List at Target.com - just go to the website, search my name under ‘registries & lists,’ and you have an array of items from which to choose. Something to keep in mind as Christmas and my Birthday quickly approach. ;-)
