30 - The First Month
I am now one month into my 30s. This month has been filled with ups and downs, and lots of planned fun and unexpected busyness. In other words, it’s been just like pretty much every other month of my adult life.
Some of the tough things that have happened in January include having some difficult conversations with people (both students and friends). I’ve also gotten an answer to a multi-year prayer. Why was this a tough thing? Because God said “no” to my desires. That’s never fun, but the up-side is that I finally have clarity in the situation. In more practical news, my washing machine broke. The washing machine that I got just after I moved into my house. The washing machine that is only 2 years old. The short of the story, as well as some sage advice from a kind handyman, is that GE washing machines are not reliable and should be expected to last at most 5 years. Moral of that story? You get what you pay for, I suppose.
In the realm of ups during the month, I must include my Thursday night Bible study with some fun ladies. We’ve just started a study on James and I am part of the “creative team” that is organizing the study. It’s been really fun to spend time planning for each week, as well as getting together on Thursdays to discuss the Word and our lives. We also had a beautiful snow in NC - between 8 and 10 inches all over the Triad!! That pretty much shuts down things in the south, but it was still a majestic site and I enjoyed the excuse to dwell in Sabbath for a bit.
What will the 2nd month of my 30s bring? Only time shall tell….
