3 Months Until…
I will begin my own personal East Asia adventure exactly 3 months from today. Why East Asia? Why an adventure? Why in 3 months (a.k.a. in the midst of summer)?
Every Campus Crusade ministry in the US has an international partnership. That means we are committed to praying for a specific ministry, to giving financial to help make ministry possible, and to going to our partnership location to be a part of ministry. Because of the partnership aspect, there is a continual flow of ministry from one area of the US to their partnership location - meaning that ministry and relationships can continually grow. Our Triad partnership is East Asia, so that’s why I’m going there. (Yes, I know East Asia is not very specific, but that’s all the info I can give you here)
Why will this be an adventure? Well, pretty much any international travel has adventurous potential. And the culture of Asia is so incredibly different from the West that adventure comes with everything from trying to buy a meal to figuring out the local customs. God is also creating His own adventure in the spiritual climate of East Asia. Great spiritual openness, a desire to learn/practice English, a recognition of needs that aren’t being met otherwise, and the powerful movement of the Holy Spirit all culminate in a great wave of ministry in Asia. I’ll be spending time on college campuses in Asia and getting to know students who have never been introduced to Christ. I get to be part of this great adventure!!
Why the summer dates? I’ll be going to East Asia as part of a summer project. If you know me at all, you know that Summer Projects are one of my very favorite aspects of Campus Crusade. They are a time for students to be removed from their comfort zone, to experience strong Christian community, to grow in their personal walk with the Lord, and to be challenged to share their faith with others. College students have the unique opportunity to take part, or all, of the 3-month break they are given each summer to serve the Lord and take part in a Summer Project.
How can you be a part of this adventure? First, you can pray. Pray for my team - for unity and fruitfulness, that we will rely on the Lord and communicate well with one another. And pray for the ministry in East Asia - for students who will come to know the Lord this summer, for those who are believers and are growing in their faith, and for those who are doing long-term ministry there.
